Pirates to debut 2008 season

PANAMA CITY Beach, FL (March 19, 2008) – United Soccer Leagues announced their newest PDL Men's Soccer Team – The Panama City Pirates. The umbrella company, Renegade Sports Center in Panama City, FL, have acquired the Premier Development League franchise rights for Panama City Beach and the Bay County area. The Panama City Pirates season will begin May 2008.

Soccer at a number of levels is one of the fastest growing sports in the U.S. From the community youth leagues up through the professional ranks…soccer is providing activity and entertainment for more and more families. The popularity of the MLS and USL in recent years has taken off because of "big name" players, the thrill of World Cup play, the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, and, most importantly, the growth of the game at a grassroots level here in our own communities.

The Panama City Pirates USL Soccer Team will bring premier sports entertainment to Panama City Beach. The Pirates will showcase some of the nation's top talent throughout the summer months in an effort to prepare players for professional soccer careers.

For families visiting the beautiful Panama City Beaches, the Pirates games will provide affordable and exciting entertainment during the summer months! In addition to a great soccer game, there will be pre and post game parties, great half-time events, fan prizes and promotions, the Pirates Kid Zone, pre-game events, lots of food and much more!
